"A Witness to Horror," the article in the April 30 newspaper, caused me to think how precariously close the president of our country is moving to the path chosen by Adolf Hitler.
Donald Trump uses public tax money to travel to cities he knows will be sympathetic to him to rouse crowds to frenzies of anger and hatred. He does this by ridiculing opponents using demeaning nicknames for them, ridiculing our free press by labeling anything unflattering to him as fake and demanding the crowd’s loyalty saying he is the only one who can make things right.
There is no mention of solutions to the very real problems of health care or the prevention of interference in our national elections. The solutions he does offer to problems are harsh and punitive rather than constructive. We cannot stop him for the next two years but we can counter this negative assault on our real American values. We can treat others as we would like to be treated using kindness and compassion whenever possible.
America was built on our unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Let us stand up for these values for all.
