My concern continues over the letters to the editor that the newspaper chooses to print. It is one thing to want to include letters from various political perspectives, but to allow a letter to be printed (July 1) that described the Democratic debate as the first "Special Olympics" in politics was shameful. We need to hear reasoned, thoughtful arguments from both sides of the aisle, but I was embarrassed that our local paper would condone such ableist and offensive language by giving it voice in print. Letters to the editor should be thought-provoking and diverse, not hurtful and discriminatory.
