My wife and I were raised in a time when children were told police officers were our friends and would be there for us if we needed help. We've tried to pass the message on to our own children.
At about 10 pm last Friday night our daughter's car started smoking in Philomath. She called and I left to help. I wasn't concerned about her
safety because she told me a nice policeman was there with her. Officer Kevin (I neglected to get his last name) was still there and was kind
and helpful to both of us.
I want to publicly thank Kevin and remind others that, in spite of the bad press police officers have received across the country, they really are our friends and ready and willing to help us in our time of need.
