Modern recycling has come long way from the age when we used to take it all to a local recycling depot.
When you choose to use a recycling cart and have it picked up curbside, you choose to become part of a manufacturing chain that strives to produce a range of materials that deserve to be made into new products. How it goes in determines somewhat how it comes out. If you throw in dirty recyclables, garbage, and unwelcome trash, it can potentially contaminate a whole load and ruin the efforts of all the others who contributed, and the pick-up company.
Be responsible: Educate yourself to what is truly recyclable and what condition it needs to be in before it is put in the cart. Don’t turn those of us who already know this into recycling Nazis. “Actung! Putten die garbage und trashen in das recyclen carten verboten! Iffn sie die proper vey to recyclen gelernst nicht, bist du contenten to auf ihr porchen gesitzen und vatchen das truck mit das blinken lights passen sie by.”
When in doubt, or to get current info on recycling, call your local waste hauler. Many now have dedicated people whose only job is to answer your questions. Thank you for caring.
