Listening to Larry Kudlow today on KLOO AM radio; he's usually a good reporter on issues of economics. But occasionally he goes off the charts on other “conservative” talking points. Today was one of those occasions.
Larry stated that Second Amendment gun rights were never about hunting, targeting shooting or even self-defense. Larry says that the real purpose of the Second Amendment gun rights is to protect ourselves from government overreach. In other words, in Kudlow’s twisted sense of reality, our Glock 45s, ARs and bump stock additives are to be used in case the "government" comes after us. So, my Beretta .380 pea-shooter should do quite nicely against an armored personnel vehicle, tank artillery and rocket-propelled grenades, or … whatever. Really?
Here’s a couple of questions that come to mind, Larry. Who is going to make the decision on when it’s time to start shooting at “the government”? At whom am I supposed to start shooting? What is the threshold after which we start the insurrection? Who do I seek out for leadership of these “Well Regulated Militias” when the time comes? Who gets to be the leader of such a revolt? How do I explain to my grandchildren that it’s time to rise up against our government and start shooting people because the Second Amendment and Larry Kudlow said it’s OK?
These are sick times, and the Larry Kudlows of the world are sick people. And it is way past time to make this abundantly clear.
