Oregon is renowned for its natural resources. This state is home to native communities that have lived here for millennia, and now also to farmers, hunters, loggers, and fishermen that make their living and shape their identities around these abundant resources, but climate change is threatening all of it.

Every year, larger fires burn more of the forests, removing habitat for many animals and polluting the air for residents across the state. The scorched soil gets eroded into the rivers, killing the famous salmon that people have been living off for generations. The char makes its way down the rivers all the way to the estuaries and oceans, where the multiple effects of sedimentation, ocean warming, and acidification are decreasing crab catch, fish stocks, and oyster harvests. Farmers are struggling to make ends meet as unpredictable weather interferes with planting and bloom times and dry heat waves decrease harvests and increase pests.

Oregon must stand up for this beautiful land and hold accountable the polluters responsible for this environmental assault. The Clean Energy Jobs Bill will make the top polluters pay for their carbon emissions and give the money back to those who need it: the tribes that have already lost too much of their land to violence and destruction, farmers and fisherman who make their living off the land and sea, and low-income communities who are vulnerable to economic hardship. Tell your representative to support the Clean Energy Jobs Bill to protect the land we love and live on.
