My husband is Jewish. I’m the mother of a gay son and my daughter-in-law is Nicaraguan. I get that I’m supposed to be very scared of a group of Hondurans fleeing violence in their own country, but I’m much more terrified by American extremists given permission to act on their worst impulses by Trump’s vitriolic exhortations. The real threats are not on our Southern border but in our own towns.
