Gov. Kate Brown is a leader in advocating for the environment. She stepped up to keep the Elliot Forest in public ownership, signed bills requiring engine upgrades for school buses, instituted mining protections for river habitats statewide, and established the Cleaner Air Oregon program. And these are just a few of her accomplishments.
Her opponent, Knute Buehler, is trying to green-wash his record to appeal to centrist voters. The truth is Buehler has earned a lifetime low grade on his environmental voting record from the Oregon League of Conservation Voters. Though he says climate change is an issue, he opposes a proposed cap and trade program for Oregon. He also says he has not taken money from anti-environmental groups, which is not true. He’s received more than $850,000 in anti-environment money from corporations. Some are hoping he will reverse Gov. Kate Brown’s toxic air overhaul, or that he will reverse course and sell the Elliott State Forest.
So if you care about the environment, you will join me in voting Kate Brown for governor.
