Information comes from the Philomath Police Department and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include all calls for service. The status of incidents might change after further investigation. Locations are approximate. People arrested or suspected in crimes are considered innocent until proven otherwise.

SATURDAY, DEC. 16

DISTURBANCE: Philomath Police responded at 11:26 p.m. to the 2000 block of Main Street for a report of several males fighting. Upon arrival, police found three men outside talking and determined it was a verbal argument only.

SUNDAY, DEC. 17

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Philomath Police responded at 5:28 p.m. to a request from dispatch that a caller wanted to report criminal mischief at a local business, stating that a flower pot had been broken outside of the building between 4 p.m. Dec. 16 and noon Dec. 17. However, police were unsuccessful trying to reach the caller.

MONDAY, DEC. 18

THEFT: Philomath Police responded at 2:45 p.m. to the 2000 block of Newton Place for a report of theft involving a video game controller and headphones.

TUESDAY, DEC. 19

HIT AND RUN: Philomath Police arrested Shawnna Evans, 29, of Philomath, at 1:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Main Street on a charge of failing to perform the duties of a driver in an accident with property damage.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Philomath Police arrested Jeremy Cooper, 31, of Vida, at 7:44 p.m. at 13th and Cedar streets following a traffic stop on a charge of failure to return a suspended license. He was also cited for driving while suspended and operating a vehicle without required lighting.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 20

BURGLARY: Philomath Police responded at 11:27 a.m. in the 1000 block of Quail Glenn Drive for a report of a burglary. Police found that the residence had been entered and multiple items taken.

METHAMPHETAMINE: Philomath Police arrested Ronald J. Koetz, 37, of Alsea, on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine following a traffic stop at 11:45 p.m. on Main Street. A K-9 officer alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle and a search yielded user quantities of meth and paraphernalia.

THURSDAY, DEC. 21

UNLAWFUL ENTRY: Philomath Police responded at 9 a.m. to the 1000 block of Pioneer Street for a report of someone trying to pry open a door to an apartment. Police took the same report at 9 a.m. Dec. 20 and on both occasions, no entry was made.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY: Philomath Police responded at 11:30 a.m. to the 2000 block of Applegate Street for a report of suspicious activity. Two middle-school aged males were captured on video walking onto driveways, up to residences and trying door knobs. They were later seen walking along Newton Street carrying bags with some boxes in them. No other information was available.

FIRE ALARM: 5:28 p.m., 400 block of South 19th Street.

MEDICAL: 5:42 p.m., 100 block of South Eighth Street.

MEDICAL: 11:52 a.m., 1200 block of North 19th Street.

MONDAY, DEC. 18

MEDICAL: 8:18 a.m., 300 block of South 17th Street.

FIRE ALARM: 3:51 p.m., 2800 block of Newton Place.

TUESDAY, DEC. 19

MEDICAL: 8:25 a.m., 600 block of Marlon Street.

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 20

ILLEGAL BURN: 9:44 a.m., Highway 34, Milepost 54.

ASSISTANCE: 2:47 p.m., Fern Road and Evergreen Road.

SMALL FIRE: 5:30 p.m.: Highway 34 and Marys Peak Road.
