The Benton County Cooperative Weed Management Area will host the “Let’s Pull Together” event Saturday as part of Oregon’s Invasive Weed Awareness Week. Individuals, families and groups can join in at any of six locations, including Marys Peak near Philomath.
The Marys Peak event will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Volunteers will spread out to pull invading tree seedlings in the meadows. Those planning to participate should meet at the Marys Peak Summit parking area at the end of Marys Peak Road. Volunteers should bring a bag lunch to eat at the summit.
Weed experts will assist in identifying native plants and noxious weeds. The event is being co-hosted by the Alliance for Recreation and Natural Areas/Marys Peak Alliance, Siuslaw National Forest and Institute for Applied Ecology.
