Ronny Gassner, 65, of Nashville, Oregon, passed away from a timber-cutting accident on Tuesday, August 15, 2017.
Born in Corvallis to Richard and Dorothy (Dallas) Gassner, Ronny grew up near Summit where he attended grade school. He graduated from Philomath High School in 1970.
Ronny started work for the family business as a young teenager. He later became a partner with his dad and brothers. Eventually, he became a co-owner of Gassner Logging, Inc., where he shared the role with family, including his three sons.
On September 17, 1970 he married Sharon Stephens. They resided in the Nashville area where they raised their four children.
Ron’s greatest love was his family. His profession as a timber cutter, a close second. He took pride in hard work and easily conversed in topics related to his career. Ron enjoyed the outdoors, especially taking his wife for warm weather motorcycle rides to their cabin in Crescent.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard; brother, Larry; and grandson, Holden.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon; sons, Steven (Lisa), Kevin (Katie), Ryan (Paula); and daughter; Amber Russell (Shane); mother, Dorothy; brothers Thomas and Terry; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22 at Blodgett Community Church. Potluck reception immediately following. Burial at Summit Cemetery.
