Marie Gulich all-Pac-12

Oregon State center Marie Gülich was named to the 15-player Pac-12 all-conference team on Tuesday for the second time.

Oregon State's Marie Gulich was named to the Pac-12’s 15-member all-conference women's basketball team on Tuesday. It is her second all-conference honor after making the team last season.

The senior center was the only Beaver to make the team, voted on by the coaches, although sophomores Mikayla Pivec, Kat Tudor and junior Katie McWilliams received honorable mention.

Gulich was one of three finalists for player of the year, along with UCLA senior Jordin Canada and Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu, with the Ducks' sophomore point guard taking home the honor.

Ionescu is the fourth Pac-12 player to win player of the year the season after being the freshman of the year.

Gulich was also on the five-player all-defensive team while McWilliams received honorable mention.

Aleah Goodman and Taya Corosdale were honorable mention on the all-freshman team. 

Oregon had three players on the all-conference team with sophomores Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard making the team for a second straight year and junior Maite Cazorla earning her first nod.

UCLA’s Canada and California’s Kristine Anigwe, a junior, are three-time members of the all-conference team wile UCLA’s Monique Billings, Stanford’s Brittany McPhee, Colorado’s Kennedy Leonard and USC’s Kristen Simon are two-time members.

Also on the team are Washington State’s Borislava Hristova, Utah’s Megan Huff, Arizona State’s Kianna Ibis, Washington’s Amber Melgoza and Stanford’s Alanna Smith.

In addition to Gulich, Billings, Canada, and USC’s Aliyah Mazyck and Minyon Moore made the all-defensive team with Canada taking home the defensive player of the year honor.

The all-freshman team consists of Michaela Onyenwere (UCLA), Satou Sabally (Oregon), Kianna Smith (Cal), Sam Thomas (Arizona) and Kianna Williams (Stanford). Sabally was named the freshman of the year, the second straight year a Duck has won that honor.

Stanford's Tara VanDerveer was named the Pac-12 coach of the year for the 15th time in her Hall of Fame career. She guided the Cardinal to their 17th straight 20-win season.
