Reserve quarterback Richie Harrington announced on his Twitter page Monday that he’s leaving the Oregon State football team to play for Southern Utah.
Harrington will be a sophomore in the fall with three seasons of eligibility left.
“I will be transferring to Southern Utah to play football for the Thunderbirds,” he wrote. “Ready for a new chapter.”

He’s a 6-foot-1, 224-pounder from Westlake Village, Calif., He walked on with the Beavers in 2011.
Harrington redshirted his first season and was the No. 3 quarterback last season, but saw limited action.
He completed 6 of 9 passes for 66 yards and a touchdown in three games. His most notable appearance was his first at BYU in an emergency situation.
Southern Utah is a member of the Big Sky Conference in the Football Championship Subdivision.
