NORTHRIDGE, Calif. — Oregon State's softball team dropped its final game of the CSUN Tournament on Sunday morning, falling 4-1 to Texas Tech.
The Beavers (17-9) beat the Red Raiders on Saturday.
A fast start from Texas Tech put Oregon State behind 3-0 after the first inning.
The Beavers had a great scoring opportunity in the second as Alysha Everett, Missy Nunes and Camryn Ybarra reached on singles to load the bases with one out. But Kassidy Scott and the Red Raiders defense forced Kayleen Shafer into a double play ending the inning.
Oregon State scored its only run in the third inning.
Michelle Sass led off with a leadoff single and stole second. Shelby Weeks delivered an RBI single to left field, her 12th of the season, to get the Beavers within 3-1.
Oregon State left runners on in the fourth inning after a single from Ybarra and a defensive error. Texas Tech struck again in the fifth inning turning a single and stolen base into a run.
Mariah Mazon pitched a complete game in the loss, giving up seven hits while striking out three. Ybarra led the way offensively with two hits.
Oregon State finished the CSUN Tournament 4-1 and opens Pac-12 play by hosting California for the first of a three-game series at 3 p.m. Friday.
