EUGENE — Oregon put together back-to-back four-run innings to come away with an 8-0 Pac-12 softball victory over Oregon State in the first of a three-game series on Friday night.
Oregon (39-6, 12-6) ended the game early with a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth.
The Beavers (24-20, 6-10) dropped their second straight this season and have now lost 13 straight to the Ducks.
A hit batter and two singles loaded the bases for Mia Camuso, who sent a 1-1 pitch over the centerfield fence to give the Ducks the win.
The Ducks took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on Gwen Svekis’ leadoff homer.
Nikki Udria singled, stole second and went to third on a single by Camuso.
Shannon Rhodes had a bunt single to make it 2-0 and Madi Bishop doubled to right-center with two outs for a 4-0 lead.
Prior to Svekis’ homer, Oregon State starter Taylor Cotton had retired eight of nine batters after the Ducks had two on in the first.
Cotton allowed nine hits and walked two with six strikeouts.
Sammi Noland, Alysha Everett and Lovie Lopez had Oregon State’s three hits.
Udria and Camuso both had two hits for the Ducks, who had dropped six of nine conference games.
Megan Kleist picked up the win, allowing the three hits while striking out five without issuing a walk.
The Beavers and Ducks will square off again Saturday at 1 p.m. and wrap up the series at 3 p.m. Sunday.
