Western Oregon junior left-handed pitcher Jacob Fricke will return for his third season with the Corvallis Knights, coach Brooke Knight announced Thursday.
Fricke is a 6-foot-4, 240-pounder from Glide, where he earned 3A all-state honors as a senior, junior and sophomore. He lettered four times each in soccer, basketball and baseball.
He was 3-1 with a 4.58 ERA in 17 games with the Knights in 2017, with 20 strikeouts in 39.1 innings. He went 5-0, 2.91 in 17 games in 2016, with 29 strikeouts in 58.2 innings. He was a West Coast League honorable-mention all-star both seasons.
The Knights have also signed Western Oregon freshman first baseman James Anderson and junior pitcher Grant Fisher to 10-day contracts. Anderson played at Crescent Valley High School, Fisher at Grant High.
Anderson is a 6-1, 200-pounder who was a three-year letterman at CV. He was a Mid-Willamette Conference all-star, and earned 5A all-state honors. He also played in the Class of 2017 All Star Game at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer.
