SILVERTON — The Lebanon High girls basketball team moved into first place in the Mid-Willamette Conference pennant race on Wednesday with a 56-50 victory at Silverton.

The Warriors (15-3, 10-1) now lead the Foxes by one-half game in the title race and hold the tie-breaker by virtue of a sweep of the season series. LHS also defeated the Foxes 44-32 at LHS on Jan. 14.

"Everyone just kept stepping up," LHS coach Mardy Benedict said. "It was a great team effort. Winning at Silverton is super-tough.

"We fought through adversity, made things happen and withstood their runs to get the win."

Mary Workman and Ellie Croco had 16 points each and Paige Wombacher added 10 points for the Warriors.

It was the ninth win in a row for Lebanon, which resumes MVC action on Thursday at South Albany.

Oakland 62, Jefferson 23

JEFFERSON — Oakland topped the Lions in the Central Valley Conference matchup. Jefferson (6-15, 4-9) concludes the regular season on Friday when it goes to Oakridge for another CVC game.

Stayton 55, Sweet Home 27

STAYTON — Sweet Home lost its 14th consecutive game in the Oregon West Conference contest. The Huskies (1-19, 0-9) resume OWC action at Cascade on Tuesday.

East Linn Christian 40, Oakridge 28

OAKRIDGE — East Linn Christian snapped a four-game losing streak by topping Oakridge in the Central Valley Conference encounter.

Grace Wilson led the Eagles with 19 points and nine rebounds and Emma Roth grabbed 13 rebounds for ELCA.

The Eagles (12-11, 6-7) conclude the regular season on Friday by hosting Monroe in another CVC game.

Alsea 78, Eddyville Charter 18

EDDYVILLE — Alsea stretched its winning streak to five games by topping Eddyville Charter in the Mountain West League tilt.

Alsea (14-8, 12-1) concludes league play on Thursday by hosting Crow. 

La Pine 45, Harrisburg 43

LA PINE — La Pine edged the Eagles in the Mt. Valley Conference nail-biter. Harrisburg (15-8, 5-5) resumes league play on Friday by hosting Pleasant Hill.

Yamhill-Carlton 66, Scio 25

YAMHILL — Scio fell to the Tigers in the PacWest Conference game. Scio (1-20, 0-9) concludes the regular season on Friday by hosting Salem Academy.

Boys basketball

MONROE — Monroe edged Central Linn 69-65 in a Central Valley Conference thriller at MHS.

The Cobras (15-8, 9-4) visit Regis and the Dragons (10-13, 5-8) travel to East Linn Christian on Friday in each team's regular-season and CVC finale.

La Pine 67, Harrisburg 41

LA PINE — Harrisburg dropped its third game in a row by falling to La Pine in the Mountain Valley Conference contest.

The Eagles (3-20, 1-9) host Pleasant Hill on Friday in their penultimate MVC game.

Oakland 73, Jefferson 62 (OT)

JEFFERSON — Danny Aguilar hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime but the Lions fell to Oakland in the Central Valley Conference game. Regulation ended 58-58.

Diego Rodriguez had 18 points, Leo Romo Jr. 12 points and Aguilar seven for Jefferson, which fell into second place in the CVC. The Lions (13-7, 10-3) conclude the regular-season and CVC schedule on Friday at Oakridge.

Scio 60, Yamhill-Carlton 40

YAMHILL — Scio ended a four-game tailspin with the PacWest Conference win. The Loggers (2-7, 6-14) conclude their regular-season and PWC schedule on Friday by hosting Salem Academy.

Oakridge 61, East Linn Christian 44

OAKRIDGE — Oakridge handled East Linn Christian in the Central Valley Conference game. 

ELC (11-12, 6-7) closes out the regular season on Friday by hosting Monroe in another CVC game.

Stayton 55, Sweet Home 41

STAYTON — Stayton handed Sweet Home its fourth loss in a row in the Oregon West Conference game. The Huskies (13-8, 2-7) resume OWC action on Tuesday when they visit Cascade.
