Corvallis High sophomore forward Edgar Monroy was voted 5A state player of the year for boys soccer.
Monroy, who also won Mid-Willamette Conference player of the year honors, helped lead the Spartans to a share of the league title. CHS finished 15-2-1 overall and fell to MWC rival Woodburn in the state championship match.
CHS junior keeper Roman Gabriel and Monroy were voted first-team all-state. Junior midfielder Avery Whipple was a second-team selection.
Crescent Valley’s John Sarna, a senior forward, also received second-team recognition. The Raiders went 9-5-1 overall and fell at Bend in the state round of 16.
On the girls side, Blake Leamy was voted 5A coach of the year as CV won the MWC and reached the state semifinals. The Raiders finished 14-1-1 overall.
CV teammates Emma Smith and Peyton Dale were voted first-team all-state. Smith, a senior midfielder, was the MWC player of the year; Dale is a sophomore keeper.
Fellow Raiders Nicole Moore and Isabella Schrader were second-team picks.
Senior forward Aja Bumpus was voted first-team all-state for the Spartans, who placed second in the MWC and went 10-5-1 overall.
Philomath senior forward Carrie Lillis was voted 4A first-team all-state.
The Warriors finished second in the Oregon West Conference and made a surprising run to the state semifinals.
Lillis won OWC player of the year honors.
