Crescent Valley High teammates Lindsey Soule and Paula Lomonaco won two individual events apiece during Friday’s preliminaries of the Mid-Willamette Conference swimming championships at Osborn Aquatic Center.
Lomonaco, a freshman, took first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 free while Soule, a junior, won the 200 and 500 freestyle. Teammates Sarah Cordier (200 IM) and Reina Watkins (100 butterfly) also picked up wins.
The Raiders placed first in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 400 free relay. The winner of each event and relay during Saturday’s finals automatically qualify for the 5A state championships, held next Friday and Saturday at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham.
On the boys side, Corvallis’ Noah Vial won the 200 and 500 free. Vial is a junior.

Sweet Home won 18 of 22 events during Friday’s Special District 3 championships at Albany Community Pool.
The finals will be held Saturday with the winner of each individual event and relay automatically qualifying for next week’s state championships.
Philomath coach Marissa Eng felt it was a solid preliminary performance.
“I was so thrilled with our team’s performance,” Eng said. “They did a standout job and we had amazing swims by everyone, from some of our most experienced swimmers to some of our newest swimmers.”
Eng said she’s expecting big performances from several athletes Saturday, including James Dye, Amity Coon, Reya Fairbanks.
